Jon Atkinson Plain stamp wooden handle
This plain stamp is made to be used with the E head nail, it’s a well-balanced and well-built instrument. For strength and endurance, this plain stamp is made of stress-resistant H13 tool steel and mounted on a high-grade 13″ hickory shaft.
All of Jon Atkinson’s stamps are made to an excellent standard, allowing them to be used to make plain stamped nail holes from start to finish. However, if you want to keep the perfect shape of these stamps for longer, you should first start the nail hole with an old stamp, one that is more square shaped than normal (a starter stamp). The squareness of the initial stamp is to allow you to forge out any blips/frog eyes that may form on the flat steel’s edge without making your nail hole too rectangular, then use the nice finishing stamp to polish the nail hole.
