The dual density polyurethane used in Shock Tamer horse hoof pads allows the pad to absorb and disperse shock.
Concussion is absorbed by the grey substance, which is slightly lifted above the black, while it is dissipated away from the hoof and leg by the tougher black material. Shock Tamer pads come in two styles: a complete flat pad that covers the whole sole in sizes Standard and Large, and a Rim pad that sits beneath the shoe but it does not cover the sole. In the frog area of the Shock Tamer insert pads, there is a replaceable insert that can be used to dress the foot.
